Taiwan, Canada and the US won WhiteHat Grand Prix 2015

The final round of WhiteHat Grand Prix - Global challenge 2015 organized by Bkav Corporation has come to an end. After 8 hours of competition, Taiwan unexpectedly became the champion and won the prize of 225 million VND. The runner-up belonged to the team from Canada, and the third prize was awarded to the team from the US with the prize value of 45 million VND and 22.5 million VND respectively.

The final round took place in the form of Attack/Defense. For most of the competition, the US team (PPP) constantly took the lead. However, 20 minutes before the competition ended, Taiwan (217) unexpectedly took the throne by solving the challenge with the highest points, Pwn400. The race from here became fierce when 3 minutes before the contest system was closed, the top two teams of Taiwan and Canada (Samurai) constantly took over each other. At the last second, the championship belonged to Taiwan with 29,400 points. Canada and the United States had to accept the following positions with 27,700 and 27,600 points. Vietnam had 2 teams in the final round, RoadToRome and BabyPhD, but only ranked the fourth and sixth place. The contest was reported at WhiteHat.vn.

On the direct support channel of the Organizer, sewilton member from a Canada team expressed his excitement when participating in the competition: "I am really excited when joining WhiteHat Grand Prix 2015 and look forward to next year competition".

The contest result is the motivation for Bkav to organize WhiteHat Grand Prix as an annual award".

Deputy Director of Authority of Information Security - Ministry of Information and Communications, Mr. Nguyen Huy Dung shared when Vietnam first organized a global cyber security contest: "The contest attracts the participation of teams around the world. The Qualifier had the participation of 500 teams showing a very fierce competition. Especially, of 10 teams in the final round, 6 teams are holding high rankings on the global ranking. In addition, the competition has the participation of very strong teams such as USA, Canada, Korea, etc. I see the great quality as well as the meaning of the contest, especially when Vietnam is in urgent need of promoting and developing resources in the field of information security".

Attending the Finals of WhiteHat Grand Prix 2015 were 10 teams who excellently surpassed nearly 500 teams from 67 countries in the Qualification Round. Of these, up to 6 teams are in the Top 10 in the world according to CTFTime (website ranking global cyber security competitions).
