About WhiteHat Grand Prix
WhiteHat Grand Prix is a reputable cyber security competition, with grand prizes, at the international scale and held annually. The competition is an opportunity for cyber security professionals around the world to compete, show off their qualifications and capabilities, increase their rankings on CTFTime, and win valuable prizes.
Year by year, WhiteHat Grand Prix always presents to teams messages about the country and people of Vietnam in every challenge they overcome.
WhiteHat Grand Prix 06
WhiteHat Grand Prix 06 is the 6th global cyber security competition organized by Vietnam. With the theme of Vietnam Today, the Qualification Round takes place on January 04, 2020, choosing the top 10 teams for the Final Round in December 27, 2020. WhiteHat Grand Prix 06 has the format of Jeopardy, Attack/Defense and WhiteHat Bug Bounty program, finding vulnerabilities on important information systems and popular software in Vietnam.
Top 3 in the Finals will be rewarded with VND 230 million (approximately USD 10,000), Second Prize and Third Prize worth VND 45 million (approximately USD 2,000) and VND 23 million (approximately 1,000 USD) respectively. In addition, teams have the change to get bounties per bug they find in the Private Bug Bounty.
WhiteHat Grand Prix 2018
This is the first time a global cyber security competition has been organized onsite in Vietnam.
The Qualification Round took place on August 18-19, 2018, attracting 720 teams from 79 countries around the world. Under the theme of “Legends of Vietnam”, teams had the opportunity to discover the legends of Vietnam such as Children of the Fairy and the Dragon, Chung Cake, legend of Watermelon, etc. after successfully solving a challenge. The Final Round took place on November 1 in Hanoi with the participation of 10 teams from the US, Russia, Ukraine, Korea, Poland and Vietnam. After 8 hours of competition, team LC1BC from Russia won the champion of WhiteHat Grand Prix 2018, followed by coconutCoffee (Korea) and p4team (Poland) in the second and third place respectively.
WhiteHat Grand Prix 2017
The global cyber security competition WhiteHat Grand Prix 2017 took place on December 16, 2017. With the theme of “Vietnam Heritages”, teams had the opportunity to learn about Vietnamese cultural heritages each time they successfully solved a challenge. The challenges of WhiteHat Grand Prix 2017 were designed to assess the comprehensive competence of each team, which was really essential for cyber security professionals when working in the field.
WhiteHat Grand Prix 2017 attracted 453 teams from 62 countries and territories. After 24 hours of competition, team CLGTftMeePwn of Vietnam excelled the defending champion 217 (Taiwan) to win the prize of USD 10,000. This was the first time Vietnam won the champion since WhiteHat Grand Prix was held on a global scale. The second and third place went to team 217 and Dogfish (USA).
WhiteHat Grand Prix 2016
This is the second time Vietnam has organized a global cyber security competition. The competition took place continuously from December 17 to December 18, 2016 with the participation of more than 500 teams from 52 countries worldwide. After 24 hours of competition, team 217 (Taiwan) continued to be the champion, two Vietnamese teams won the second and third prizes.
With the theme of “Discovering Vietnam”, WhiteHat Grand Prix 2016 was also an opportunity for international friends to explore Vietnam through typical cuisines when successfully solving challenges.
WhiteHat Grand Prix 2015
This is the first global cyber security competition organized by Vietnam, first prize worth VND 225 million. With the theme of “Hello, Vietnam!”, the competition is an opportunity for cyber security professionals around the world to compete, show off their qualifications and capabilities, and learn about the country and people of Vietnam.
The Qualification Round took place continuously for 24 hours from 24 to 25 October 2015 with the participation of 467 teams from 67 countries. To the Final Round were 10 teams from USA, Canada, Taiwan, Russia, Poland and Vietnam. Of which, up to 6 teams were in the world top 10 according to CTFTime. On December 19, 2015, the Final Round took place in the form of Attack/Defense. After 8 hours of competition, team 217 from Taiwan won the champion, Samurai from Canada won the runner-up and PPP (USA) held the 3rd position.
WhiteHat Grand Prix 2014
WhiteHat Grand Prix - Grand Prize 2014 is a competition for all young people who love cyber security in Vietnam, with the first prize worth 100 million VND.
WhiteHat Grand Prix 2014 consisted of 2 rounds. The Qualification Round took place on September 19, online on the forum WhiteHat.vn, selecting the top 10 teams to the Final Round. On October 25, 2014, the Final Round was held simultaneously in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. In addition to the Jeopardy challenges, by participating in the competition teams experienced the form of Attack/Defense, first held in Viet Nam. As the final result, the first prize worth VND 100 million belonged to team __BAMB00__.
